Ready and willing

Friends of Kinaba volunteers ready for action

Here are some of the volunteers ready and willing to start work at Kinaba to reinvigorate and re-open the Kinaba Information Centre as a viable information and visitor centre.

Friends of Kinaba members frequently head to the top of Lake Cootharaba for a picnic to maintain their familiarity with the maintenance jobs needing attention, and to talk with visitors there about their proposal to maintain and operate the building as an information centre.  We feel this will improve people's knowledge of the area, and enjoyment of their visit to the Cooloola section of the Great Sandy Straits National Park.

The wind came up strongly over the morning, and some of the paddlers headed back early to Boreen Point.  Others stayed for lunch, and then either made their way leisurely further up The Everglades, or motored, paddled or sailed back across the Lake.

The Cormorants were sitting on snags close to the channel, and the Pelicans seem content to line up near the closest sandbank.
